Farmers Land

From sometime Alighar is burning because of land acquisition by UP govt at very cheap rates. This reminds me of Peeli live. The movie was not a great movie but had great message.

In the name of National Development, governments are forcing small and medium farmers to sell away their land. It makes me wonder what kind of development is this. Make owners of farm labourer somewhere. A road passing through these farm maybe boon to the drivers, car owners but have we every given thought at what cost we are enjoying these luxurious drives. Maybe not. Because today we are worried about milages and petrol expenses. We are worried about reaching desitnation in the shortest period. But larger picture is not that happening.

SEZs are being set up. Factories are being setup, roads are being built on farming land. Many farmers are giving away their land either happily or out of sheer pressure. Few years from now, we may have best of roads, factories, parks and malls but very little space to grow food grains. Factories, roads, parks and malls may satisfy our certain need but less farming land, less food grains will not satisfy our huge and basic need of Roti, Kapda aur Makan.

Our population is growing leap and bound. Already we are being forced to import food from other countries, our farmers are choosing other profession because govts. have failed to provide them better facilities for round the year farming facilities. Farmers are committing suicides or selling away their land to builders because they see no hope in these profession.

People like you and me sitting in Urban India are least worried about this because we are not farmers and we earn handsomely and feel we can afford anything every foreign goods. So we need not worry about it. But have we ever thought with land gone, no work in villages where these people will migarate for rozi roti. Yes friends they will come to cities. Is their enough space in cities to accomodate them. Mumbai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Banglore etc are best example. Over congested cities, with no cleanliness. Crimes are increasing in cities because people from rural india are being forced to come to cities and surivial at any cost is their only goal in life. They are not to be blame. It is we who are to be blame.

We are always on net, reading best papers, having best facilities with us to raise voice in their support. But its our attitude "I damn Care" is creating problem not for them but for us. Lets get up and support these farmers. Raise our voice and make our govt. understand that we don't need four lane roads, we need farmlands, trees and greenery around us....Plz raise your voice...
